On May 29, 2024 at the AIDA meeting in Athens, Greece, the Presidential Council unanimously supported CDL’s application for membership. CDL will remain an interim national section for Canada of AIDA for a period of six months, after which full membership will be granted.

As part of CDL’s affiliation with AIDA, CDL members will be granted membership in AIDA, during the 6 month interim period the details of how CDL members will gain access to AIDA membership will be confirmed and members will be kept apprised of progress.

Canadian Defence Lawyers wishes to recognize the tireless efforts of CDL’s 2023/2024 President, Heather Sanderson, KC in building this important partnership with AIDA, and introducing CDL to a community of similar Associations across Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific.
