Welcome to the Fall 2026 edition of the refreshed Hearsay Digital Magazine, the only quarterly publication serving Canada’s Civil Defence Bar.
Each September as we return to our offices, and send children back-to-school, CDL experiences a refresh of its own; September 1 marks the first day of a new fiscal year, 25% of our members renew their memberships, and we kick off the new CLE Season.
This year, we’ve also added several initiatives to welcome Young Lawyers;
- CDL Coffee Card Campaign – members are encouraged to send contact information for your new calls to CDL, who will receive a welcome packet, containing a handwritten note from a CDL board member, information about our Young Lawyers programming, and a gift card for Tim Horton’s coffee.
- U4 (Under Four Years of Call) Membership – we’ve added a reduced membership fee for lawyers four years of call or less, for $125 (a savings of more than 50%) young lawyers can access all CDL member benefits, discounts and services. Articling student memberships remain frozen at $75.
Young Lawyers can also continue to take advantage of targeted CLE through the Fall Bootcamp and Practical Skills Webinars, or can gain valuable leadership experience as part of the Young Lawyers Committee. Contact

CDL aspires to make our best-in-class learning available to all members, in addition to a robust calendar of
upcoming CLE sessions,
a back calendar of recordings is available for purchase 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Before the end of each calendar year, CDL also updates CLE Credit Information to help attendees assess how many accredited hours you might still need.
