An Update from the Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Since 2018 CDL’s D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) Committee has overseen ongoing efforts to ensure visibility, and a sense of belonging for all members of the CDL Community, with a focus on providing a platform for CDL members from equity seeking communities, and stewardship of the EDI Fund.
During the 2024/2025 Season the D&I Committee successfully planned and facilitated a session featuring the Human Rights Commissioner of Ontario, which was offered to CDL members free of charge through the EDI Fund. The one hour session offered members access to 1 EDI CLE Credit.
The D&I Committee has also been called upon to provide input into the development of a range of CLE programming over the past year, as well as to provide input into CDL’s response to the recent Law Society of Ontario Governance Review Consultations.
For 2025/2026 the Committee will focus on providing at least one EDI Fund sponsored CLE Session, engagement with current and potential contributors to the Fund, and support of CDL Communications that highlight celebration days and months, and profile CDL members from diverse backgrounds.
The committee is actively seeking volunteers, who are asked to indicate their interest to staff liaison Amy Mosquera via email to amy@cdlawyers.org.
