CDL is proud to be affiliated with the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the international membership organization of all lawyers involved in the defense of civil litigation. Headquartered in Chicago, DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of business and individuals in civil litigation.
CDL is considered an SLDO (State and Local Defense Orgnaization) within the DRI structure. We have a council representative chosen from the ranks of CDL/DRI joint members. Additionally we support a regional representative (for Canada) on the DRI board of directors.

2021 - DRI SLDO Diversity Award
Established in 2002, the DRI SLDO Diversity Award recognizes a local defence organization that has achieved outstanding diversity goals. 1. Has achieved significant success in demonstrating a commitment to diversity within and outside of their organization; 2. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity as evidenced by a formal diversity plan committed to achievement, sensitivity and receptivity to diversity issues, including promotion of its minority and women lawyers or volunteers.
